Newsful is run by its founder, who is responsible for your data. Write to daily.digest@newsful.world about anything on this page.
What we keep
- Newsletter: your email and language, to send you the edition you asked for. A new free account also gets it, unless you untick the box when you sign up. You can unsubscribe from any email.
- Free limits: a random ID in a cookie, and your account if you are signed in, so we can count your free searches, follow-ups and listens.
- Subscribe taps: when you tap Subscribe we note where, the currency, a random browser ID and, only if you give it, your email.
- Subscribers: Link (Stripe) handles your card and billing details; we never see your card. We receive your email, your Stripe customer ID and whether the subscription is active, and keep a cookie that marks this browser as subscribed.
- Accounts: if you sign in, your email (and the name and picture Google shares, if you use Google) and a sign-in cookie, so your subscription works on any device.
- Your questions: what you type in search or follow-up is sent to xAI's Grok to write the answer, and the answer may be saved so it can be shown and shared.
We do not run ads or sell data. We count visits and actions such as searches, listens and sign-ups with Umami, a privacy-friendly tool that uses no cookies, does not identify you and does not follow you across sites. After you sign up or subscribe, we set a short-lived cookie holding only the name of that step, so it can be counted, and then delete it. If you subscribe, we also keep a cookie for up to a year that only says so, so visits from readers with an account or a subscription can be counted apart from new visitors.
Why
To provide what you asked for (the newsletter, the subscription), and for our legitimate interest in keeping free limits fair, preventing abuse and learning whether people want a paid plan.
Who else handles it
Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and sign-in), Google (if you sign in with Google), xAI (AI answers) and Stripe/Link (payments). Some are in the United States, under standard safeguards for international transfers.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. We keep data only while it is needed: newsletter emails until you unsubscribe, payment records as long as tax law requires. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
